Alien: Isolation Cinematic Trailer

Asset / Environment modeling and texturing

The cinematic trailer for Alien: Isolation was a well a great project to work on. Not only are we big fans of the universe, but we also got to revisit our favorite movies from this franchise in preparation for the project, collecting references from the first 2 alien movies

Assets

A lot of the work was to get the assets and the elements of the environments to fit the dark industrial feel present in the alien universe. We worked on a number of assets, from the props that the character interacts with like the backpack, lamp and motion sensor but also big environment assets like the big engine in the opening of the trailer and the worktable at the end.

So collecting references from historical sources was a key point of the process.

Hero assets where especially important in this project since most of the shots are closeups both in the engine room in the beginning but also with the props at the end.

Details…

Details and more of them. A lot of care went into polishing and refining the details on each model. From the seams and rivets on the parts to the used look and feel of some of the improvised and put together together props that gives the players a preview of what they can expect in the game.

Throwback

Referencing the old artwork and movies from the first movies was key, since the action of the game takes place 15 years after the original Alien movie. So a lot of the details and elements of the environment and tools have elements inspired by the original movie set elements and props.
